The start of the ‘Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer’ season of Golf Days started at Stonyhurst Park in the beautiful surroundings of the Ribble Valley.

In uncertain weather, nine teams took to their tees for a ‘shotgun’ start. Nine holes before lunch and nine after, separated by a delicious hot-pot taken in the clubhouse. The day was rounded-off by afternoon tea and presentations in the Bayley Arms where Anne Sweeney and Dan Hill, Rosemere Fundraisers, joined the competitors. A raffle was also held to raise funds for Rosemere.

Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer boasts former European Tour professionals Paul Eales and Lora Fairclough, leading caddy Phil ‘Wobbly’ Morbey, recently seen caddying for Darren Clarke, and comedian Norman Prince amongst its patrons. The group organises several fundraising events golf days each year. In December 2011 they presented a cheque for over £12,000 to the Cancer Foundation.

Thanks to Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer for organising the event and to the John Austin and members of Stonyhurst Park Golf Club for hosting this event.
