Walk In the Dark

Read more: Walk In the DarkSign up now for Rosemere’s Walk in the Dark on Saturday 21st April. This 13 mile walk from Chorley Hospital back to the Cancer Centre at Royal Preston Hospital sets off at 9.30pm and all walkers will receive a certificate and goody bag as well as refreshments at the finish. Fancy dress positively encouraged!! This event is supported by the Furness Building Society.

Rosemere funds equipment in East Lancs

The Rosemere Cancer Foundation has pledged over £19,000 to fund equipment that will help head and neck and skin cancer patients in East Lancashire. The funds will buy a colour matching system and laptop to better match the colour of prostheses to the natural skin tone on patients who have had surgery for head and neck cancer. £9,000 will also buy skin cooling packs to held relieve the burning sensation experienced by skin cancer patients during treatment. Finally, two dermascopes are being purchased to allow better examination and management of skin cancer at Burnley and Blackburn. Rosemere hopes to have all the equipment in place for the benefit of patients by the end of February.

Rosemere Launches 2012 Valentine’s Appeal

Read more: Rosemere Launches 2012 Valentine’s AppealPupils at Moor Park High School in Preston have helped to launch Rosemere Cancer Foundation’s annual Valentine’s fundraising Appeal. 30 pupils from Year 7 formed a massive heart shape to represent the Valentine’s Logo whilst being photographed for the launch. 

This annual fundraising appeal aims to boost funds for projects that will make a real difference to cancer patients being treated across Lancashire and South Cumbria by raising over £20,000.

Daniel Hill completes the Rosemere Fund-Raising Team

Read more: Daniel Hill completes the Rosemere Fund-Raising TeamOur Rosemere team is now complete with the arrival of our latest fund-raiser, Daniel Hill. Dan has recently been appointed as the new Area fund-Raising Co-ordinator for Blackburn and East Lancashire.

Dan has a wide range of experience which he brings to Rosemere having been actively engaged in in charitable activities in his previous employment and for the last three years has worked for a local charity in the Blackburn and Darwen area.

'Wayne's Tour - A Big Bloke's Tour de France' Book Signing

Wayne Howard who cycled the Millennium Tour de France route alone in 2005 and raised over £9,000 for Rosemere has written a book entitled `Wayne`s Tour` giving a moving and hilarous account of his experience. £1.00 from the sale of each copy is to be donated to Rosemere and books are available from all major book stores and retail websites or why not pop along to the Plakitt and Booth Bookshop, 87 Clifton Stret, Lytham at 7.00 p.m. tomorrow night where he will be signing books and giving an entertaining talk.

Laura comes to us with a wealth of experience and energy. Laura’s experience of fundraising began as part of her university degree and since then has been fuelled by her passion for making a difference. Her work has involved her in many projects, managing events and building up working relationships with many people to promote the charity and to ensure that any contact is effective and friendly.

Rosemere Help Fund Sharing Best Practice Event

Read more: Rosemere Help Fund Sharing Best Practice EventThe Rosemere Cancer Foundation was the major sponsor at the Sharing Best Practice event hosted by the Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Research Network yesterday at Ribby Hall.

The event saw over 100 oncology staff from across the region come together to learn about recent developments in Oncology research within Lancashire and South Cumbria, including the outcome of a number of projects funded by Rosemere. Keynote speaker was Professor Matt Seymour, Director of the National Cancer Research Network, who congratulated Lancashire and South Cumbria on the success of its research portfolio.
