Ben Ashworth's Guild Wheel Memorial Plaque Revealed

Following a petition, signed by thousands of local people, both Preston City Council and Lancashire County Council agreed to name one of Ben’s favourite running routes after him.

On Sunday afternoon over 150 people attended the unveiling ceremony at the entrance to Miller Park. The route covers 2.5K of the Guild Wheel, a favorite running ground for Ben.

Runners and walkers then set off on a 5K round trip to a memorial stone and back to the Continental pub where an afternoon of celebrations took place which helped raise £1000 for Rosemere.

Ben's wife Louise said;

“I would like to say Ben would be really humble about all this but I know that actually he would be so excited about the plaque and the naming after him.

“The last year has just been a real rollercoaster. We grieved periodically for five years while everything was going on, this has been a real time of remembering and refocusing and saying we do have this time to live as a family.”

Why not volunteer?

Why not volunteer?

During December Rosemere awards it's annual 'Emily Dibben Volunteer of the Year' award at the Volunteer and Supporters' Night. It is always such a hard decision to single out an individual, couple or group out for this acknowledgement, as we have so many fantastic people who go above and beyond in their efforts to support Rosemere.
